【摘要】:ThisInternationalStandardspecifiesamethodfortheevaluationinaqueousmediumoftheultimatebiodegradabilityand,asadditionalinformation,theprimarybiodegradabilityandthetotaleliminationfromwater,oforganiccompoundsatagivenconcentrationbyaerobicmicroorganisms.TheconditionsdescribedinthisInternationalStandardnormallycorrespondtooptimalconditionsforallowingthemaximumvalueofbiodegradationtooccurwiththechoseninoculuminthetesttime.Theseconditionsmayevenbemorefavourablethaninfull-scalewastewatertreatmentplants,especiallyiftheirhydraulicretentiontime,sludgeageortheadaptationoftheactivatedsludgeisnotoptimal.Themethodappliestoorganiccompoundswhicharea)water-solubleattheconcentrationusedunderthetestconditionsandnotexpectedtobetransformedtoinsolublemetabolitesifbiodegradationandnoteliminationonlyshallbedetermined;b)nonvolatile,orwhichhaveanegligiblevapourpressureunderthetestconditions;c)notlostbyfoamingfromthetestsolution;d)notinhibitorytothetestmicroorganismsattheconcentrationchosenforthetest.Inhibitoryeffectscanbedeterminedusingasuitabletestmethod(e.g.seeISO8192).Ifthetestcompoundistoxic,thetestconcentrationmustbelowered,orapre-exposedinoculumcanbeused.ThisInternationalStandardisalsoapplicabletothemeasurementofbiodegradationandeliminationofdissolvedorganiccompoundsinwastewater(alsocalled"testcompound"inthemethod).NOTEIfmoreinformationisrequiredtopredictthebehaviouroftestcompoundsorwastewaterinatreatmentplant,asimulationtest(e.g.theactivatedsludgesimulationtestISO11733)shouldbeperformed.Forappropriateuseofthismethodandforalternativebiodegradationmethods,seeISO15462.
